Balance
In the world today, the #1 prerequisite to overcoming B.S. in life is having a true sense of balance. Without balance, one cannot adequately distinguish B.S. from "normalcy." And, what is truly B.S. might even appear as normalcy, the unbalanced view of the world having stood normalcy "on its head."
What do we mean by "balance?" Balance is mental steadiness, emotional stability, a disposition not given to extremes in behavior and thinking. Balance means living in a harmonious state with our environment. When this is so, the world outside is not in conflict with your inner self.
An individual living and thinking on the "fringe" (i.e., on the edge, to extremes, etc.) is not a balanced individual in the eyes of mainstream society. Such an individual is usually unhappy with himself and others and is continuously at odds with his environment; unable to find peace and satisfaction within himself and his world.
Every now and then, we all need to stop and take a few moments to reflect. Are we happy? Are we still on the road leading to our (previously-established) goals and dreams? Or, are we at odds with ourselves and world? Have we gotten sidetracked? Are we missing the mark? Is the target (goals) still in sight? If so, carry on. If not, we must readjust our path; see where we got off track; put corrective measures in place that will help us get back on track and moving forward once again.
